Marvin O. King, Jr. serves as the pastor of First Baptist Church, Winchester, and as the Executive Director of the Genesis Foundation of Kentucky.
Marvin O. King Jr. currently serves as the pastor of First Baptist Church, Winchester, KY and as the Executive Director of the Genesis Foundation of Kentucky. He attended Drake University in Des Moines as a member of the men’s basketball team. While a student at Drake, he participated in the INROADS program to develop talented minority leaders for corporate and community leadership. In 1996, Marvin graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Drake University. Upon graduation, he accepted a position with IBM Global Services in Lexington, KY where he started his career in systems integration and database management.
While at IBM Global Services, Marvin was quickly promoted into management and began cultivating his leadership philosophy. While at IBM, Pastor King began to pursue his passion of developing leaders. In 2003, he received a Masters degree in Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University. In 2007, he left Corporate America and accepted a position as the Director of Ministries at Consolidated Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Richard Gaines where he served in several leadership capacities. While at Consolidated he served as the Director of Family Life and Director of the Andrew Center. He also served in roles such as administration/strategic planning, leadership development, and family ministries (i.e. children / youth, men, women, outreach / evangelism etc.)
Marvin was called as pastor of First Baptist Church Winchester, KY in January 2010 and began implementing leadership development workshops in the local church and community. In an effort to continue his passion for developing leaders, he founded and organized the Genesis Foundation of Kentucky, a non-profit organization designed to help people maximize their human potential. Marvin serves as its Executive Director and has implemented various community programs to improve the quality of life of individuals in the community. He also serves as leadership coach/facilitator with SOAR, and is the CEO of King & Co., a leadership and management consulting firm. Marvin has a passion for developing and preparing leaders in the corporate world and community. He is actively involved in developing leaders for 21st century leadership. He is committed to organizations that promote the welfare of individuals in the community and currently serves on the Boards of Simmons College of Kentucky, Bluegrass Community Technical College Regional Advisory Board and Greater Clark Foundation.
