Chris Woodall is the City of Lexington’s Manager of Long-Range Planning, and a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Urban & Regional Planning from Florida State University with a concentration in growth management, studying under Dr. Tim Chapin, one of the country’s foremost experts in land use and comprehensive planning, growth management and urban redevelopment. Chris has been planning for the future of central Kentucky for nearly a decade, having served as the Planning Director in Jessamine County prior to taking his current position. From macro regional discussions, to the individual site level, his experience in any context is always focused on moving this world-renowned Bluegrass Region forward one step at a time.

Lexington is a growing city, and with that growth comes many opportunities and challenges. How do we continue to grow in a responsible way that allows us to preserve and maintain what sets us apart? Chris is currently leading the city’s latest Comprehensive Plan, Imagine Lexington, which keeps this in mind while guiding the next twenty years of urban development. With the input of over 11,000 citizens thus far, it is intended to be the most inclusive and accessible plan to date, with public outreach and education at the heart of the effort. The City’s first dedicated website to a comprehensive plan, an inaugural educational video series, online public input opportunities, a brand new social media presence, nearly 70 outside organizations and expert advisors, and much more, have contributed to a truly comprehensive plan to guide Lexington’s future.
